About us

Charlottesville Tango is a volunteer-run non-profit dedicated to keeping the social tradition of tango — the dance born in Buenos Aires over a century ago — alive in our corner of Virginia. We run beginner and ongoing classes, host milongas and practicas through the year, and bring visiting maestros for workshop weekends.

Tango is danced in a close embrace, in lines around the floor. You don't need a partner, fancy shoes, or any prior experience — just curiosity and a willingness to listen.
